Privacy
What we store
Babble has no accounts and no analytics or advertising trackers. Your streak, history and settings live in your browser's local storage and never leave your device.
When you lock in a play, your browser sends the tiles you placed and a random ID created on your device. On our server we store your score, a one-way keyed hash of that ID (so you can't be counted twice), and a one-way keyed hash of your network address prefix (to limit fake submissions). The network hash includes the day, so the same network gives a different hash each day and can't be matched across days without our secret key.
How long
Network hashes are deleted after 2 days. Per-player score records are deleted after 30 days. Daily score histograms (counts only, nothing about you) are kept so past puzzles can show results.
Service providers
Babble runs on Cloudflare, which processes requests to deliver the site and uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots when you lock in a play. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for how they handle that data.
